Why is my wick smoking? (How can I prevent soot)Smoke and soot are natural parts of the burning process. When talking about candles, picture the wax as the fuel of the fire, and the wick as the delivery system. As the wax travels up the wick, it's releasing the scent. To keep the soot to it's minimum, it's important that you trim your wick every time before relighting. An untrimmed wick will lead to issues with your candle (including higher amounts of soot + smoke). And remember, if you are seeing soot, you are also breathing it!
-
How should I burn my candle correctly?Great question! We put a lot of heart into making our products, but they deserve a little love from you, too! Candles: always burn until the entire surface is liquid (this prevents tunneling) and the wick should be trimmed to 1/4" each time before relighting.
-
What can I do with my candles once I finish them? There are so many things! You can clean it out and reuse the vessel. - There are multiple ways to clean out your vessel. a)You can freeze the candle for 30 minutes and use a butter knife to chip out the remaining wax. b) You can boil water and pour it into the container. The left over wax will start to dislodge from the bottom and float to the top. Once you remove the left over wax, soap and warm water will finish the job. If you are local to Baltimore, you can bring back your empty jar for a discount on your next purchase. You can clean out your candle jar and purchase one of our refill kits. You can clean out your candle jar and bring them back to our shop and we can refill it for you.

What are the benefits of Soy Wax?Soy Wax Candles are Non-toxic. It is plant based and a renewable resource. Burning a soy wax candle does not release any toxins into the air. The wax itself is also easy to clean up if spilled and can be washed off with soap and warm water. Derived from the soybean, soy wax is hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns solid at room temperature. The majority of soy wax is produced in the US and so in addition to soy wax being better for our envirnment, it is also a domestic crop supporting our local farms.
-
Why is my candle tunneling?Candles form a memory. If you light a candle and develop a ring around the center, the next time you light your candle, you'll notice that it will only melt around that ring. That ring will ultimately turn into a tunnel. That is the memory you've created for your candle. It's important that you allow your candle to stay lit for as long as it takes until the entire top layer of your candle melts from edge to edge. This needs to happen everytime you light your candle.
